Believing th at the Bentley, wit h four wheel drive sys tem  and a b ig,  powe rful engine, can han dle thi ngs worse than a Welsh countryside road, James   takes the ca r onto a Welsh stage of the World Rally Cham pionship,  with Kr is Meeke behind the wheel, and Ja mes being the co-dri ver. Since it was Hammond&# 39;s turn to select the challenge locat ion, the team went to the Western United States. Jeremy se lected the Lexus LFA, James ch ose t he new Asto  n Martin Vanqu ish,  and Richard too k the SRT Viper.  After a brief drive in the Nevada desert, t he trio headed to Las Vegas Motor Speedwa y, specifically the dra g strip, t o compete in drag races org aniz ed by t he Las  Vega s Police  Departmen t; whom or  ganized it  with the  theory that allow ing people to drag r ace, legally, at a c  losed circuit, would prevent  street racing. De spite the h igh pe rformanc  e of their cars, the trio we re b eaten by m odified pro duction cars, and 4WD cars, in e ach of their drag races .　　New s: J eremy comes up with a solution  on  how to solv e the crisis affecting B rita   in's t own centres: sac king all t raffic wa rdens an d removin g double  yellow lines. The trio then review a Chinese product designed to sto  p drowsiness be hind the  wheel, be fore they took a first look at the 20 13 Jaguar F -Typ e. They praised its styling, b ut criticized its high price tag of £60 ,000, as  well as its ta rget audienc e. James mentions Peug  eot Citroen  's car inte nded to r un on compressed air; Jeremy attempted to use a  fire extinguishe r to demonstrate, but failed after only causing himsel f to turn slowly aro und.　　Chal lenge, Part 2.: After l eavi ng Las Vegas, James and Richard make fun of Je   remy 9;s LFA  for l acking no t only  Bluetooth c onnect ion and iPod connector s, but cup holder  s, desp ite being the   most expensive c ar. They are t hen task  ed to he ad to Willow  Springs  Internatio  nal Motorsp orts Park, but they  instead  stop  on a grooved road, where eac h car d rives over the grooves and pr oduces not es. Whe n they reach  Willow Spring s, they are forced t o play an aerial vers ion of Laser Ques t, where they woul d drive  5 laps around the track, whilst being chased by two Aermacchi SF .260   armed with laser guns. I n the end, James won the chall enge by b eing hit only 17 times. 　　Star  in a Reasonably Priced Car: F leetwood Mac' s Mick Fleetwood drove  the Kia Cee& #39;d around the  Test Track  with a la  p of 1:45. 4.　　Chal lenge, Part 3: Depart  ing Willow Spri ngs, the gro up headed fo r Los Angeles, Calif orni a. In order   to do "real wo rld" testing, Richa  rd devised a challenge to see who   could burn the  best el evens. The three instead end ed up drawing a phallus and left LA . The team then stayed fo r a night in P alm Springs.  However, the producers gave them  a final ch allenge. The three w ould drive fro m Palm Spr ings to the Mexican border at Cal exico t he followi ng m orning, and the last to make  it to the Mexican bor der would have t o travel in to the c ountry itself to  drive the Mastretta MXT, a M exic an sports car  made fun of by the presenters  in an earlier series , for a lat er segme nt on the sh  ow. In revenge fo r ta king them to A merica, Jeremy a  nd J ames s abotaged Ha mmond's Viper, causi ng him to lose 1 0 minutes in the race. Despi te makin   g a stop for fue  l, Jere my ma de it to the fini sh line fir st, wit h James  in second. Richard then walked to the border  being the  last person to arrive. At the studio , James and  Jeremy end by sa  ying th at the Viper was awful a nd that th e Vanquish a  nd LFA  were amazing.　　150 S eries 19 , Episode 3  10 F ebrua ry 201 3 Amy Macdonald　　Review:  Jerem y revi ews the Toyota GT8 6 and the Subar u BRZ.  The cars are almost identical, but Jeremy pre fers the Toyota GT86. The Stig then  com pleted a lap of the Test Track in 1:31:3.　　News: They discuss the new Subaru Imp  reza,  which is not coming to UK, and they then talk abou t the new M aserati Quattroporte.　　Challenge,  Part 1: The producers ha ve reserved a singl e ticket  to a football match at the S an Siro in Milan, Nort hern  Italy. The  trio have a race  from Wemb ley Stad  ium t o the S an Si  ro. Jeremy drives the Shel by Mustang GT500 and Richard and   James travel on public transport. Similar  to the previous race to Monte Carlo, Richard  and James are not allowed to use any cars, and Jeremy is not allowed to use any trains. According to Jeremy, s ince t he last epic race,   the train s have  become faster and boats have become slowe r. Richard and James opened  up a big l ead whilst travell ing on the Eur ostar, and arrive in Paris while Jeremy was still   crossing th  e English  Chan nel on a ferry. After reac  hing France, Jeremy discovers that  the Mus tang only  holds 50 litres i  n its fuel t  ank.  After le  aving Paris, Richard and James disc uss what to  do upon ar riving i n Milan — a s there are two of them but  only  one ticket.  Hundreds of  miles b  ehind, Jeremy  ends part 1 of the challen ge stating out loud, &q uot;I&# 39;m gonna lose !&quot;　　S tar in a  Reasonab ly Pri ced Car: Amy Macdonald dro ve the Kia Cee'd ar ound the Test Track in 1:44.4. During one of  her practice runs, A my accidenta lly dest royed one  of the  runway lig hts, which   Jeremy gives to her after revealing the l ap t ime.　　Challenge, Part 2:  The high speed TGV  slowed down as  it approached the mountain s that surround Northern Italy. Jeremy be gan to catch up and  was nearl y nec k and neck with the train, until road works at the Mo nt Bl  anc Tunnel slow hi m down. The train s tarts to  accelerate again and reache s North ern Italy  ahead of Jeremy. Richard and James use a tu be network t o get t o the streets nea r the finish line. James maintains h is opposition to  run on television and Richard run s off alone to find the fini sh line, which is at a  bar in the IM Villa  Veuve Cliequot. James then assemble d a bike which he h ad hidden in one of his bags and rides to the bar, only to find tha  t Richard is already there and h as won the race and the  ticket to th e footba ll match. Moments  later, J eremy arrived and acc epted defeat  for t  he first time ever in a n epic race of all the se ries. 　　151 Series 19, Episode 4 17 February 2013 L ewis Hamilt on 　　Review: J  eremy revi ews the V auxhall Ast  ra VXR, Ford Focus  ST and Renault Megane R enault Spo rt Cup. The St ig did laps o f each car , the Focus being the slo west at 1:29.6,  the  Astra VXR  at 1:28.3,  and the Megane in 1:27.7. Jeremy demonstra tes the  complexit y of modern cars& #39; dshboar d. Richard b rings a   Fiat Multipla and bot h mo dify it. Je remy breaks t he dashboard and  replaces it consid ering it to be  too  complicated for    elders. Ric hard ask  s for  the airba gs s aying   that it  is d angerous for the  elderly who are as del icate as c hildren,  and that he needs it for a safety feature. Jeremy   make s a speedometer which reads 20 mph at the top  speed,   he also us  es an old design switch for rear fog light whi ch does n othin g. Jeremy  installs a  pet-cage an d replaces t he back seat with high seat chairs and the Fia t badge with a Rover o ne. They paint it in beige after observing the shade of  a heari ng aid. Ri chard uses water-resistant fabric as seat c overs, and while stit ching hurts his eye. The new car is completely redesi gned, 400 kg lig  hter d ue to A luminium b ody, has active sus pension, n ew gearbox , minimalist dashboard and offer  s better comfort. James t hen races   it against TerraMax at Nevada Automot ive Test C entre, Nevada. The race  was to  a hill 10 mile acro ss, p assing   thro ugh rocky terrain, hillock, mud, river and sand-t  racks . TerraMax was switched to drone m ode durin g the race to deflat e the tyres and take a short-cut. The  Range Rover' s automat ic Terrain Response System is demonst rated. James takes a longer  route to ascen d the hill but still wins the race. At the studio, the trio consi der the dr iverless cars to be not very  practical .　　Sta r In A Reasonably Priced Car: Ja mes McAv  oy drove  the Kia Cee& #39;d aro und the Test Track wi  th a lap of 1:43.6 d espite havi ng less e xperience o f driving cars. H  e drove over grassy pat ch in the las t corn er but manages to keep the car under contro l.　　Cha llenge, Part 2 : Jeremy   and  Richard road-test  their car at Christchurch, Dorset. The car has large f ront bumpers  made up  of f  oam, large rear-vi  ew mirrors,  sque  aking ball u nder the brak e-peda l, large  magnifying-glass on the  dashb oard, sat nav (voice d by Richard Briers) with   only four desti natons. Th e car has an arti ficial cat on the roof which later fell over  on the wa y of Bin go hall. Ri   chard l ater shows  his s ystem to find the location of parke d car  (the car activate s a flare a nd then r eleases  a balloon). Jeremy shows that the radio only plays Ho rse of the Year Sh ow theme on a loop, which both later  find to be  irresistibl  e to clap along. The na me of the car is revealed  to be The Jame s. They pic  k up three e  lder ly ladies from a pensio ners' home for ro ad-testing and drive them  to a bowling club where it  is shown that Richard fitted the airbag at the  rear for pa rking  assist which inflates the airba g on clo se pr oximity. Je remy and Richard buy food for picnic, c hoosi ng only British foods   . They atta ch the shopping trolley to Tow hitch and head  for picnic. The roof o  f the car leaks a s it rains. Jeremy and Richard end up choos ing a pi cnic spot on roadside where they find the trolley t o be damaged  during reversing and the food to be  soaked,  however they ate the food whic h was not ruine d. The nex t da y both leave Christchur ch and Jeremy shows his system t o prevent the car from being driven on th  e wrong side of the road, the car initially sounds ala rm and later  the tyres, doors and other par  ts of the car explode which stops the car and renders it immob  ile. The episode was sho t in 2012.　　Challe nge, Part 1: Buy used estate car s for up to £1,500 in  Britain  and report at a  small villag e in rural Ugand  a. Jerem y arrives in a BMW 5 28i Touring, Richar d in a S ubaru Impr  eza WRX E state and  James in a Volvo 850R Wagon . The challenge  is to find the true sourc  e of th e river Nile.　　They  set  off an disc over that ex ploring isn't as d ifficult as first t hought when th ey go on a nice e asy driv e and find La  ke Victoria, of whom the Victorian  Explore  rs thought was the source of   the Nile. How ever they are then told th at it is not the actual  source of t he Nile and there were  two o ther disputed locations for it, one in  Rwanda and one in Burundi. However, Jeremy Clarkson in siste d that both of th ese locati ons were wrong and dec ided to head west  towa rds L  ake Edward to see wh ether ther e wa s a link betw een that lake a nd Lak e Kivu in Rwanda.　　In their journey w est, where t  hey visi t the Entebbe  Airport and from there see the Ford Scorpio Estat e bac k-up car. T hey c  ontinue i nto Kampal a, Uganda 9;s C apital City where they get held  up in a traffic jam o vernight, th e most h urrendous tr affic they&#39;d ever seen.　 　They continue on well-maintained highways west finding their trip incredib ly easy before reaching the town of Mbar ara in the southwest of the country, vi  a a stop in Jezza, a vill age in Mpigi Dis  trict. Here they stay in a disgusting hotel, after driving t   hrough tea  plantati ons in an attem  pt to discover a lovely  teahouse h otel, which in the mind of R ichard, was bound to fo und due to tea prog rammes he9;d seen.　　In  Mbara ra they s tayed in  the Economi c Lodge  with Jeremy having a bed with   faece s on it. They left the hotel d isgusted b efore Richard has  the id  ea to make the cars & #39;hotels'. Jam es modifies his Volvo by adding a libra ry, Richard adds a cooker and Jere my adds a coffin.  The coffin he uses to p ut his clothes in, he sleeps on Egyptian Cot ton.　　They le ave f or La ke Edward, camping overnight there  because of  its beauty before heading in search of the river heading for Lake Kivu. None of the rive rs connect the lake as they all h ead east rat her than south. They giv  e up, leav ing the m disappoi nted. Then Jeremy looks at a map  and discovers the s  ource of the Ni le must be on th  e other side of Lak e Victo ria. His reasoning is th at the  Mediterranean S ea is  effectively an inland sea and  so Gibraltar is the true  mouth of th e Nile, ra  ther than Alexandria in Egypt. 　　After discover ing this they decide that they must drive straight to the other side of Lake Victoria to get to th e southeast coast in Tanzania  near the Ser engeti.
