Wel l, we did eventually  get a film made in H ollywood of Hitchhiker and , trag icall y, Douglas  didn't  live to see  it. No r will he se e this adaptation  of  Dirk – bu t it& #39;s worth bearing in   mind that  Doug las always thought Dirk would make a better fi lm than Hitchhik  er and I feel sure that this new TV drama wit h a terrific script by Howard Overman  will  prove his point.
